theory & aural..

Theory
Theory of music is to do with writing down music and understanding sheet music thoroughly.
It is such a helpful aspect of musical education that the Associated Examining Board require all students entering for Grade 6 practical examinations to have passed Grade 5 Theory.
A student entering for Guildhall examinations also needs Grade 5 Theory before they can take a Grade 8 practical examination.
Theory lessons are available from beginner to Grade 8 at ACAM Music.

Aural
Aural in music is one of the ways it is possible to develop musically through other means than playing pieces from sheet music or singing songs.
Aural tests are part of most practical examinations and entail such exercises as singing back phrases, clapping rhythms and talking about expression in music.
An accomplished aural test can make a great deal of difference to the overall mark of an examination!
We offer one-off lessons and courses in Aural Training from Grades 1-8.
